Steel imports to fall in near term: AIIS survey

TORONTO The majority of long and flat steel traders expect U.S. imports to decline in the near term, according to the results of a May survey by the American Institute for International Steel (AIIS).
All survey respondents expect shipments of hot-rolled sheet, cold-rolled sheet, corrosion-resistant material, merchant bar, and pipe and tube products to fall in the next two months based on orders already placed, while some 96 percent said cut-to-length plate shipments also would fall.....
