Alcoa joint venture finishes water recycling project

CHICAGO Alcoa Inc. and Saudi Arabian Mining Co. (Maaden) have completed a new engineered wetlands wastewater recycling project at their joint-venture plant in Ras Al Khair, Saudi Arabia.
The wastewater system, developed at Alcoas technical center near Pittsburgh, is expected to reduce water demand by about 2 million gallons per day and save approximately $7 million per year that would otherwise have gone to buying freshwater, Alcoa said May 28.....
