Abbott resigns from LME, HKEx

LONDON — Martin Abbott has resigned from his roles as co-head of global markets at Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Ltd. (HKEx) and chief executive officer of the London Metal Exchange, the LME said June 6.

Abbott will remain in both roles until year-end to "facilitate a smooth and orderly transition," the LME said.

"I am very proud to have led the LME during a period of great progress for the exchange," Abbott said in a statement. "When we agreed to the sale of the LME to HKEx last year, I made a commitment to stay on as long as necessary to ensure a smooth transition. The integration has now reached the point where I am able to think about my own plans for the future, in the confidence....
