Copper discounts flat; brass scrap prices rise

NEW YORK — Brass scrap prices were up across the board as strong demand from international consumers coupled with higher copper prices on Comex to support the secondary sector, market sources said.

No. 1 composition solids, or red brass, strengthened to $2.56 to $2.60 per pound from 2.53 to $2.57 previously; composition borings and turnings increased to $2.51 to $2.56 per pound from $2.48 to $2.53; radiators moved up to $2.13 to $2.17 per pound from $2.10 to $2.13; and yellow brass solids, largely considered an export item, increased to $2.11....
