Ward faces lawsuit over stainless steel tubing

NEW YORK A class-action lawsuit filed against corrugated stainless steel tubing (CSST) producer Ward Manufacturing LLC claims the company failed to properly test its product, which allegedly is more vulnerable to damage from lightning strikes than the heavier iron pipe that it has steadily replaced in the U.S. market over the past decade.
The lawsuit specifically targets the Blossburg, Pa.-based companys Wardflex product, claiming that it is "susceptible to perforation by an electrical arc generated by a lightning strike, which can cause and has caused fires, damage to and destruction of residential structures, and creates a substantial and unreasonable risk of death or personal injury," according to documents filed in U.S. District Court in Maryland.....
