Alpha idles W. Virginia coal mine on demand weakness

NEW YORK Alpha Natural Resources Inc. has idled its mine in Boone County, W.Va., due to challenging market conditions and weak metallurgical coal demand.
The Bristol, Va.-based coal producer is shutting down its Justice No. 1 mine and slowing production at its Liberty preparation plant, vice president of corporate communications Ted Pile confirmed to AMM sister publication Steel First June 10.....
