Globe trims staff at Ohio plant: sources

CHICAGO Globe Specialty Metals Inc. has laid off about 40 workers at its silicon metal and specialty alloy facility in Beverly, Ohio, in recent weeks, according to market sources.
It wasnt immediately clear if the layoffs were part of maintenance programs that had been previously announced by the New York-based silicon producer, a reaction to market conditions or both. ....
