NEW YORK — Scot Industries Inc. plans to open a facility in Kingman, Ariz.

"It will be mainly distribution," Bennett Bratley, acting director at the Mohave County Economic Development Department, told AMM. "There will probably be some cutting done, depending on sizes that clients request."

Lone Star, Texas-based Scot declined to comment. The company distributes specialty tubing and bar products and offers value-added services such as heat-treating and deep-hole boring, according to its website.

The company is moving into a 60,000-square-foot facility, with start-up expected early this month, Bratley said. Scot initially planned to build a plant in Kingman, but scaled back its plans and is now leasing property in an industrial park.

"At this point I don’t think the capital investment is going to be that substantial," Bratley said, adding that Scot is expected to bring in material from its plants in Wisconsin for distribution from Kingman.

The city, 60 miles from the California border, has attracted a number of metal-related businesses, including Insteel Industries Inc., which operates a wire manufacturing plant there, Bratley said.
