Aluminum production slips, demand rises: trade group

CHICAGO While aluminum demand in the United States and Canada increased through April, other key indicators showed declines, including May domestic production, April scrap purchases and an index of new orders, according to recent Aluminum Association data.
U.S. and Canadian demandshipments by domestic producers plus importsincreased to 8.18 billion pounds in the first four months of 2013, up 2 percent from the same period last year, while apparent domestic consumption (demand minus exports) inched up 0.5 percent to 6.81 billion pounds in the same comparison.....
