Encore earnings soar on higher sales, price spread

NEW YORK Encore Wire Corp.s earnings jumped more than sixfold in the second quarter on higher sales and an improvement in the spread between the cost of copper and the sale price of copper wire.
Encore posted net income of $15.5 million for the three months ended June 30 vs. $2.37 million in the same period last year on a 9.3-percent increase in sales to $289.46 million.....
