VW profit falls, but North America sales up

CHICAGO — Volkswagen Group saw profits shrink during the second quarter and first half, largely due to declining demand in Europe, but North American revenues strengthened on higher deliveries.

The German automaker recorded second-quarter 2013 earnings of €2.8 billion ($3.8 billion), down 50 percent from €5.7 billion in the second quarter of 2012. Revenues improved 8.5 percent, however, to €52.1 billion ($69.3 billion).....
