W. Coast mills holding line on tube price hike

LOS ANGELES A moment of truth is approaching for West Coast structural steel tubing prices, with the ultimate fate of a recent $30-per-ton hike expected to be determined over the next few weeks.
Some tubing mills in the market have notified customers that material will be shipping at higher price levels.
California tubing producers announced in July $30-per-ton price hikes that were due to take effect between July 5 and 12 (amm.com, July 17). But to remain competitive with their rivals, producers have still been selling substantial amounts of material at the earlier, lower price, according to market sources.....
