Aleris sees N. America scrap spreads remaining pressured

NEW YORK Aluminum scrap spreads in Aleris International Inc.s North American rolled products business are expected to remain pressured by low primary aluminum prices, the company said during an Aug. 1 earnings call.
"Given the current (London Metal Exchange) price of aluminum, we expect scrap spreads in our North American rolled products business will continue to be tight," the company said, adding that efforts are being made to "limit spot-priced sales in the current tight metal spread environment."....
