Wire rod, coils raise Port of Charleston imports

NEW YORK — Break-bulk cargo imports into the Port of Charleston, S.C., surged in its fiscal fourth quarter, primarily due to steel coil and wire rod tonnages, as well as steel billets, the port said July 31.

The port’s Union Pier Terminal handled 50,079 tons of non-containerized freight during the quarter ended June 30, up 84.7 percent from 27,109 tons during the preceding three quarters combined.....
