Toyota's N. American revenue up but earnings slide

CHICAGO Toyota Motor Corp. generated revenue of nearly 2.11 trillion yen ($21.4 billion) in North America in its fiscal first quarter, a 32.1-percent improvement from the same period last year.
But the Tokyo-based automaker said that North American operating earnings for the three months ended June 30 sank 29.7 percent to 82.6 billion yen ($838 million) due mainly to valuation losses on interest rate swaps stated at fair value by its sales....
