Metal industry employment falls in July

CHICAGO U.S. primary metal producers shed 2,600 jobs last month after shrinking the work force by 2,900 in June, while employment in the fabricated metal products sector fell by 1,400 workers in July following a gain of 10,000 the previous month, according to nonseasonally adjusted data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Metal producers reduced their July employment base by 3.4 percent compared with a year earlier as companies trimmed their headcount by 13,700, while metal fabricators added 17,500 jobs in the same comparison, a 1.2-percent gain.....
