SÃO PAULO — The import price for merchant pig iron has reached a "stagnant point" in the United States, with the latest reported transactions closing at the same level for the past four weeks.

Producers from Brazil’s northern region of Carajás sold a 70,000-tonne cargo this week at an average price of $410 to $411 per tonne c.f.r.
