NEW YORK Gerdau Long Steel North Americas decision to idle its Cambridge, Ontario, melt shop and lay off 100 workers will not affect customer orders, the company told AMM Aug. 8.
The Cambridge melt shop will ramp down production over the next several weeks, a company spokesman said, but the facilitys rolling mill will continue to produce finished product using billet supplied from Gerdaus Whitby, Ontario, melt shop. ....
