International Wire earnings fall sharply

NEW YORK International Wire Group Holdings Inc.s net income fell sharply in the second quarter due to lower copper and silver prices as well as increased operational costs, the company said Aug. 12.
The Camden, N.Y.-based company posted net income of $4.54 million for the three months ended June 30, down 29.4 percent from $6.44 million in the same period last year despite sales increasing 2.1 percent to $197.2 million, a result of more sales in several end markets and a reduction....
