Ormet warns workers of possible Ohio closure

CHICAGO Ormet Corp. has issued a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) notice to more than 900 employees at its 271,000-tonne-per-year smelter in Hannibal, Ohio, on the possible closure of the operation.
The bankrupt aluminum maker, which is based in Hannibal, said that shutting down the smelter could cost 744 hourly and 157 salaried workers their jobs. Initial layoffs are expected in August, with the balance by the end of October, Ormet said.....
