Century Aluminum power deal approved

CHICAGO The Kentucky Public Service Commission (KPSC) has approved a new power deal for Century Aluminum Co.s smelter in Hawesville, Ky.
The agreement between Century and its power providersBig Rivers Electric Corp. and Kenergy Corp.will allow the Hawesville smelter to continue operating, the KPSC and Century said. The aluminum producer had said it would permanently close the Hawesville smelter if the power deal was not approved by Aug. 19 (amm.com, July 25).....
