Henderson to head Schnitzer's recycling unit

PITTSBURGH — Michael Henderson has been appointed president of Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc.’s Metals Recycling Business (MRB), replacing Patrick L. Christopher, who has resigned.

Henderson, who is senior vice president of the Portland, Ore.-based company, has been in the industry for more than three decades. He joined the company in April 2012 as chief operating officer of MRB (amm.com, March 19, 2012) after serving as a regional president at Sims Metal Management Ltd., overseeing 26 facilities that included five port locations and four shredders.

Christopher, who could not be reached for comment, joined Schnitzer in 2005 and was promoted to the top position in 2012 (amm.com, Feb. 8, 2012)
