China’s raw material imports mixed

SINGAPORE — China’s iron ore and coking coal imports rose in July while that of ferrous scrap fell, according to customs data released Aug. 21.

Iron Ore
China imported 73.14 million tonnes of iron ore in July, up 17.4 percent from 62.3 million tonnes in June, as the country also continued to produce large volumes of crude steel, according to Chinese customs data.
Australia shipped 37.74 million tonnes of iron ore in July, up 8.6 percent from the same period last year, while Brazil exported 3.15 million tonnes, up 62.1 percent from a year ago. ....
