Globe posts positive quarter but still in red in fiscal year

CHICAGO — Globe Specialty Metals Inc. swung back into the black in its fiscal fourth quarter as company operations resumed normal activity following maintenance outages.

The New York-based silicon producer posted a net loss of more than $21 million for the 12 months ended June 30 in contrast to net income of nearly $54.6 million the previous fiscal year despite a 7.4-percent increase in sales to $757.6 million on shipments that rose 14.2 percent to 266,135 tonnes.....
