CCIC clarifies radiation requirements for scrap

NEW YORK — An unofficial announcement by a Chinese regulatory agency has triggered uncertainty in the scrap industry as exporters have yet to receive specific details about radiation checks on exported scrap.

Five days after an unofficial announcement detailed a new regulation that requires exporters to submit photos of radiation readings on scrap shipments, China Certification & Inspection Co. (CCIC) told AMM Aug. 21 that the rule will apply only to exporters who have experienced "radiation-related issues" in the past.....
