PITTSBURGH — Patrick L. Christopher has joined American Iron & Metal Co. Inc. (AIM) as a managing director.

Christopher arrives from Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc., where he served as president of its Metals Recycling Business (amm.com, Aug. 15).

AIM president and chief executive officer Herb Black said Christopher will be an integral part of the company’s leadership team, working alongside and reporting to Black at the company’s Montreal headquarters.

"He is one of the most knowledgeable scrap metal dealers in the industry today. He has a good understanding of every facet of the business, from the employees to accounting," Black said. "I have worked with a lot of people and have yet to meet anyone with whom I have connected so well."

Christopher’s responsibilities will include making companywide operational improvements. AIM is heavily tied to the export arena, one of Christopher’s areas of expertise.

"In my 53 years’ experience I have yet to met anyone as knowledgeable and understanding and down to earth in the scrap industry," Black said.
