JOHANNESBURG — A request by the South African Metal Recyclers Association (MRA) for an urgent court interdict against a scrap policy won’t be heard until after policy is implemented.

The MRA had been set to have its request heard at the Pretoria High Court Sept. 6, but the court postponed the hearing to Oct. 10. The policy—known as the price preference policy, which will see ferrous and nonferrous scrap offered domestically first at a 20-percent discount....
