Stainless producers rein in Oct. surcharges

NEW YORK — North American Stainless Inc. (NAS), ATI Allegheny Ludlum Corp. and AK Steel Corp. are lowering their stainless steel surcharges for October across most grades, reversing the increases seen a month earlier.

Ghent, Ky.-based NAS set its October surcharges at 63.9 cents per pound for Type 304 material, down 2 percent from 65.18 cents in September; 42.86 cents for Type 201, down 2 percent from 43.76 cents; and 88.02 cents for Type 316, down 1.2 percent from....
