Miners must watch budget: Antofagasta

LONDON — Mining companies need to be more mindful of developing projects that are driven by budgets rather than size and speed in order to keep costs under control, Antofagasta Plc chief executive officer Diego Hernandez told AMM.

The Chilean company, whose Antucoya copper project is its first to be on budget since 2008, has run its projects with far more centralized ownership in order to get project costs under control, Hernandez said.....
