Caserones copper project to begin production in ‘14

LONDON — Pan Pacific Copper Co. Ltd., Japan’s largest copper smelter, will start copper and molybdenum concentrates production at its Caserones project in Chile in January 2014, the company said.

The Tokyo-based company, a joint venture of JX Nippon Mining & Metals Corp. (66 percent) and Mitsui Mining & Smelting Co. Ltd. (34 percent), said initial capital expenditures for the project have been increased to about $4.2 billion from $3 billion.....
