Brazilian pig iron exports drop 19.4% in September

SÃO PAULO — Brazilian merchant pig iron exports declined by nearly one-fifth in September, marking the sixth consecutive decline on an annual basis.

The country’s pig iron exports totaled 221,475 tonnes last month, down 19.4 percent from 274,824 tonnes in September 2012, according to Brazilian foreign trade ministry MDIC. However, volumes were up 65.3 percent from August’s 134,013 tonnes.....
