Globe seeks to end lockout at Bécancour

CHICAGO — Globe Specialty Metals Inc. hopes to reach an accord with locked out workers at its silicon metal plant in Canada as demand improves in several key end markets.

"Discussions with the union are progressing, and we hope to find a resolution," Globe chief executive officer and chief operating officer Jeff Bradley said during a conference call with analysts Nov. 5.

Unifor, the union representing workers at the company’s silicon metal plant in Bécancour, Québec, where workers have been locked out since May (amm.com, Sept. 25), has said it expected talks to resume.....
