NEW YORK — DLA Strategic Materials has offered more than 4,476 short tons of high-carbon ferromanganese as the agency moves to a schedule that sees the material put up for sale on a quarterly basis rather than monthly.

The high-carbon ferromanganese consisted of three separate lots at the Fort Belvoir, Va.-based agency’s depot in Warren, Ohio. The material was produced in Japan, Norway and the United Kingdom. The agency was accepting bids for lots of at least 500 short tons, as bidding closed 2 p.m. Eastern time Nov. 13.

An undisclosed buyer purchased 500 tons of high-carbon ferromanganese in September (, Oct. 8). No material was offered in October, as the DLA rolled out a new Web-based sales portal (, Oct. 1).
