Noranda to cut jobs at NC rolling mill

CHICAGO Noranda Aluminum Holding Corp. has issued a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act for 58 employees at its rolling mill in Salisbury, N.C.
The WARN was issued Oct. 30 and takes effect Dec. 29, documents from the North Carolina Department of Commerce indicate.
The cuts represent about one-third of the work force at the Salisbury plant, which employed 175 salaried and hourly employees as recently as September, a spokesman for the Franklin, Tenn.-based aluminum producer told AMM via e-mail Nov. 15. ....
