Smelters’ aluminum scrap prices fall

NEW YORK After resisting downward pressure for the past two weeks, prices for smelter-grade aluminum scrap have begun to fall along with weakening terminal markets.
Several seller sources noted that dramatically lower exchange prices were causing things to "get pretty ugly" for secondary pricing, noting that that consumers end-of-year curtailment on purchasing was compounding the issue.....
