W. Coast plate prices gaining ground

LOS ANGELES Steel plate prices are rising on the West Coast, although the jury is still out on whether a second round of increases will succeed.
"Theyre sticking by it. Theyre not backing off this time," one manufacturer said, referring to price increases implemented this past month by domestic mills and service center suppliers. He estimates his plate costs will rise $20 to $30 per ton ($1 to $1.50 per hundredweight) as a result.....
