Accuride improves coating technology for steel wheels

CHICAGO — Accuride Corp. has introduced Steel Armor, a proprietary three-phase coating process that employs enhanced corrosion-fighting properties that extend steel wheel service life by about two years compared with standard coatings.

"Corrosion continues to be a multibillion-dollar problem for fleet operations, and demands a solution," Accuride president and chief executive officer Richard F. Dauch said in a statement. "(Steel Armor’s) premium rust protection leap-frogs other wheel coatings....
