Rio confirms Shawinigan casthouse for sale

CHICAGO Rio Tinto Alcan Inc. has confirmed it is seeking a buyer for its casthouse in Shawinigan, Quebec, which it plans to operate through the end of next year.
The Montreal-based aluminum producer also is switching feedstock for the casthouse to cold metal from liquid metal, a company spokeswoman said in a Nov. 20 e-mail to AMM. "We will operate the casting center until the end of 2014. We are also looking to find a potential buyer for this center," she said, confirming previous reports by AMM (amm.com, Aug. 20). ....
