Eight-month global copper surplus totals 76,000T: ICSG

NEW YORK — The global refined copper market surplus totaled 3,000 tonnes in August and 76,000 tonnes in the first eight months of the year as production in China, Brazil and Africa soared, according to International Copper Study Group (ICSG) data.

Year-to-date refined copper production rose by around 6 percent, or 788,000 tonnes, from the first eight months of last year, with primary output up 5 percent, or 526,000 tonnes, and secondary production 11 percent, or 262,000 tonnes, higher.....
