Boeing seeking sites to build 777X

LOS ANGELES — Boeing Co. has officially thrown open the bidding to build the 777X airliner to several sites outside its traditional Pacific Northwest manufacturing region.

Chicago-based Boeing "has formally initiated a site selection process for the 777X by issuing a request for proposal ... to more than a dozen locations," it confirmed to AMM.

Boeing wants the proposals returned by mid-December and expects to reveal its selection "early next year," it said. Its decision will include locations for the plane’s fabrication and the assembly of its new composite wing.....
