CHICAGO — Doug Everhart, president of Ohio Slitting & Storage Inc., will retire effective Dec. 31 after 45 years in the steel business.

Matt Lankheit has been named general manager to succeed Everhart, with whom he has worked for six months toward a smooth transition, the Camden, Ohio-based company said.

Everhart started his career in 1968 as a sales trainee at National Steel Corp., holding various sales and marketing positions until departing in 1985 to join Tomsin Steel Co., Pittsburgh. In 1991, he joined Piqua, Ohio-based Miami Valley Steel Service Inc. as vice president of steel purchasing. In 2008, Everhart was named president of Green Point Metals, a sister company of Ohio Slitting. He served in his current role since 2011.

Everhart has been a member of the Association of Steel Distributors (ASD) since 1985 and served on its board of directors from 1997 to 2005. He was named ASD’s Steel Man of the Year in 2010.
