Metal shipments, orders rise in October

CHICAGO Shipments and new orders of primary metals and fabricated metals rose in October compared with the previous month, according to the latest U.S. Census Bureau data.
Primary metal producers shipments totaled nearly $26.36 billion, up 2.6 percent from September, although some of that could be attributed to fewer shipping days in September due to the Labor Day holiday, while new orders jumped 6.3 percent to more than $26.81 billion. Year-to-date shipments of $255.97 billion were down 0.1 percent....
