Brass scrap prices rise in step with Comex

NEW YORK — Prices for most grades of brass scrap rose Dec. 4, as sources said the move was precipitated by recent gains on Comex and a slight uptick in domestic demand.

Red brass (No. 1 composition solids) now stand at $2.44 to $2.48 per pound, composition borings and turnings at $2.41 to $2.45 per pound, and radiators at $2.11 to $2.15 per pound. Yellow brass solids, largely an export item, were unchanged at $2.08 to $2.10 per pound.....
