Four companies competing for Ormet’s carbon anodes

CHICAGO — Century Aluminum Co. is vying with Noranda Aluminum Holding Corp., Aminco Resources LLC and Bognar & Co. Inc. for carbon anodes on sale from bankrupt aluminum producer Ormet Corp., according to court documents.

Franklin, Tenn.-based Noranda wants to buy 17,086 tonnes of anodes stored at Ormet’s Hannibal, Ohio, location for $2.9 million, or $170 per tonne, as well as 688 tonnes of aluminum fluoride for $619,200, or $900 per tonne, for a total consideration of more than $3.5 million, according to documents filed Dec. 4 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware.....
