PITTSBURGH A pair of Fort Wayne, Ind.-based metals recyclers were among six recipients of grants from the Indiana Department of Environmental Managements (IDEMs) Recycling Market Development Program.
Ace Recycling Inc. was issued $50,000 toward the purchase and upgrade of existing equipment to automate and improve inflow of its electronic waste demanufacturing process. The money will be applied to the $313,843 project, which includes purchasing a motorized conveyor system for sorting, magnetic separation system and lift scales.
Auto salvager Legal Chop Shop was awarded $25,000 toward a $400,000 project to expand a storage building, and purchase a rack and storage system and pallets.
The program "improves efficiency in manufacturing, reduces wastes and contributes to the sustainability of Indiana businesses," IDEM commissioner Thomas Easterly said.
