Illegal used pipe usage costs Russia $600M/year

MOSCOW Russian steel and pipe producers lose about $600 million annually as a result of the illegal use of used pipe, Oleg Kalinskiy, head of the Russian Pipe Industry Development Fund, said Dec. 10.
The fund estimates the used pipe market to amount to about 700,000 tonnes, part of which is used illegally, Kalinskiy said.
Tube consumption in Russia is expected to reach 9.75 million tonnes in 2013, up 3 percent from the previous year, according to the fund.....
