NEW YORK — Alter Trading Corp. has purchased the assets of All Metals Recycling in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Alter said the acquisition will allow it to develop a broader infrastructure within Iowa and throughout the region.

"We are pleased to undertake this opportunity to serve Ottumwa and the surrounding community for their scrap metal recycling needs," Mike Vail, Alter’s vice president of operations for the region, said in a statement.

All Metals Recycling, which operates out of a single location handling both ferrous and nonferrous scrap, will begin operating as an Alter company immediately, Alter said Dec. 12. The company previously was owned by Greg Goldizen, who will continue to be a supplier to Alter and will retain his separate business operating as Goldy’s Auto Salvage in Ottumwa.

St. Louis-based Alter Trading currently operates 52 metal recycling facilities and five trading offices in eight states, as well as a representative sales office in Hong Kong.
