Stainless scrap mill buy prices up in tight mart

NEW YORK — Stainless steel scrap mill buying prices have increased in December in the wake of rising nickel and chrome prices, as well as reported tightness in available material, market participants said.

AMM’s monthly consumer buying price for Type 316 solids increased to $1,950 to $2,000 per gross ton from $1,905 to $1,950previously, while Type 304 solids increased to $1,455 to $1,500 per ton from $1,410 to $1,455 last month and 304 turnings rose to $1,270 to $1,320 per ton from $1,230 to $1,280.
