Metalformers expect stronger 1st quarter

CHICAGO — Metalforming companies expect an upswing in business conditions during the first quarter of next year, according to the Precision Metalforming Association’s (PMA's) December business conditions survey.

Of the 122 companies surveyed, 41 percent forecast improved economic activity compared with 27 percent in November. Only 13 percent said economic activity would decline.

"PMA members are quite optimistic about the first quarter of 2014, and they are especially upbeat compared to December 2012," PMA president William E. Gaskin said in a statement.....
