USS' Great Lakes Works idled by fatal accident

NEW YORK U.S. Steel Corp.s Great Lakes Works suffered an explosion early Dec. 15 that left one worker dead and two injured, and briefly idled steelmaking operations.
"Overnight at U.S. Steels Great Lakes Works there was an explosion at the facilitys steel shop," a spokeswoman for the Pittsburgh-based steelmaker told AMM via e-mail Dec. 16, noting that Great Lakes had resumed steelmaking operations the prior evening. "Customer shipments....
